Advisory #2: COVID-19

As mandated by the Ontario Government, all publicly funded schools in Ontario will remain closed for two weeks following March Break (until April 5). We value the health and safety of our members and their families and, effective immediately, have cancelled all DRVC practices and events until further notice.

We will continue to communicate with our school boards with respect to their community use of school procedures during this unprecedented situation. Please allow our team time to evaluate any ongoing information and decisions which will be communicated as early as possible.

At 3:30 p.m. today, the Ontario Volleyball Association website posted that all tournaments will continue as scheduled, but the situation may change quickly and you are advised to monitor the OVA website for updates.

While our risk level is currently low, we encourage you to monitor our situation through the Durham Region Health website.

We thank you for your patience and understanding as we navigate through this developing situation.

Advisory #1: COVID-19

Thursday, March 12/20, 3:40 p.m.

As with most of you, we are closely monitoring the situation with respect to the COVID-19 virus outbreak. At this time, the Ontario Volleyball Association has not made any decisions with respect to upcoming tournaments, including the Ontario Provincial Championships that begin April 16. We remind parents, coaches, and athletes to refrain from attending practice if they are symptomatic and to always practice good hygiene in terms of washing/sanitizing hands and proper etiquette when coughing or sneezing.

We feel it is best to refer our families to the Durham Region Health Department’s website that is providing current and local updates with respect to the outbreak. We also encourage you to monitor the OVA website for the most current information with respect to upcoming competition information.
