Dynamite Wins Bronze at Provincial Cup

In their first tournament of the season, Durham Rebels 13U Dynamite travelled all the way to Navan, Ontario to take part in the November 10 Provincial Cup.

During morning pool play, Dynamite went undefeated taking both games in straight sets. This top finish would allow them to move straight through to the quarter finals where, once again, they were able to prevail in two straight sets. This win meant Dynamite was now in the final four and would face the very skilled Maverick Rattlers of Ottawa, another team that had gone undefeated throughout the day. While Dynamite succumbed to the Rattlers, they didn’t give it away easily taking the Rattlers to a 23-25 and 18-25 match.

14U Destroyers Win Silver at 15U Provincial Cup

Coach Scott knows his 14U Destroyers can be strong contenders this season, and their first OVA tournament has confirmed this. The Destroyers competed in the 15U Provincial Cup on November 3 in Stouffvillle. The team played a strong game of offence and defence all day where they went undefeated in morning pool taking on the 1st and 7th ranked teams. Cross-overs and the semi-final match were no different and found the undefeated Destroyers continuing on their path of destruction. It wasn’t until the gold medal game where the Destroyers faced another 14U team, Leaside Red, would the girls meet their match. Showing sings of wear after a long day, the girls succumed to Leaside in two sets but still came away victorious knowing they had proven themselves very strong amongst this skilled group of competitors. Congratulations, Destroyers and good luck at your 14U Provincial Cup on November 17.

A big shout out to this year’s team sponsors:

16U Crusaders Win Gold at 17U Provincial Cup

It was a golden start to the OVA season for Durham Rebels Crusaders as they swept through the 17U Provincial Cup undefeated. Coach Paul was with his 17U team so assistant coach Deb took the reigns this weekend and the team did not disappoint. Losing just one set all day the Crusaders proved it’s not where you start (seeded 7th) but where you finish.  It was a 16U vs 16U gold medal final as the Crusaders met up with their neighbours from Durham Attack Power. The Crusaders defeated Power 25-12, 25-15 earning themselves the gold medal and the right to move up to the 17U Championship division for the Challenge Cup in December. Congratulations coaches and players!
