Coach Steve is back to work with our 15U Girls and Steve’s volleyball resumé as both a player and coach are extensive and impressive!
Steve is a former basketball and volleyball player who grew up in the beautiful islands of Antigua and Barbuda where he excelled in both indoor and beach volleyball. He was a setter for the Antigua and Barbuda National Men’s Volleyball team and captained the Under 19 Men’s team before expanding his role to include right side and outside hitter. Steve remained with the National team for over a decade and shared his volleyball knowledge as head coach and founder of the local men’s and women’s high school volleyball teams and assistant coach to the Antigua and Barbuda Female National Team.
Steve is a FIVB (Fédération Internationale de Volleyball) certified Level 1 coach and referee and is currently completing his requirements as a Certified Development Coach. Steve has been coaching rep teams in the Durham region since 2010 and we are excited he has chosen to return to Durham Rebels this season. Steve’s players appreciate his calm, encouraging, and knowledgeable approach and the extra work he puts in to ensuring each athlete understands her strengths and challenges and how to overcome those challenges. Steve currently resides in Whitby with his wife and 14-year-old son.
A special shout out to Steve’s son who was recently selected to the 14U Ontario Basketball Provincial team #prouddad
