Dynamite Wins Bronze at Provincial Cup

In their first tournament of the season, Durham Rebels 13U Dynamite travelled all the way to Navan, Ontario to take part in the November 10 Provincial Cup.

During morning pool play, Dynamite went undefeated taking both games in straight sets. This top finish would allow them to move straight through to the quarter finals where, once again, they were able to prevail in two straight sets. This win meant Dynamite was now in the final four and would face the very skilled Maverick Rattlers of Ottawa, another team that had gone undefeated throughout the day. While Dynamite succumbed to the Rattlers, they didn’t give it away easily taking the Rattlers to a 23-25 and 18-25 match.

17U Rampage Achieve Success in Select Division

It was a tough battle for Rebels Rampage right from the 9 a.m. starting whistle. Rampage was competing in the highly competitive 17UG Select Division of the OVA Provincial Cup at Durham College-UOIT in Oshawa. In their first match of the day, Rampage found themselves in a back-and-forth showdown with E381 that eventually resulted in a 35-37 , 20-25 win for Etobicoke. Their next game against Pakmen would be no different resulting in a 3 set game that ended in a 16-18 loss for Rampage. While Rampage put on a great fight in the morning, they were unable to secure a win but when it came to that must-win game in the afternoon against Aurora Storm, Rampage was able to pull it off giving them hope to be able to remain in the Select Division for their next tournament.  Following their success against Storm, Rampage would get a second crack at E381 and while it would be another back-and-forth game going 3 sets, Rampage prevailed for this one in another nail biting 15-13 final. Congratulations to the team and coaches on playing some amazing volleyball and good luck this weekend at the 18U Provincial Cup in Oshawa.

A special thank you to Rampage families for hosting this tournament and the Durham College Lords men’s and women’s volleyball teams who provided scorekeeping and lining duties; it was a true community effort!

Rampage would like to give a special shout out to its team sponsors who came on board in October. Don’t forget to consider these generous companies when you’re in the market for their product or service.
