art_2011_u15_16uscrimmage += "It was exactly 10 days before the team's first official tournament, and our 15U girls decided to get their feet wet by challenging our 16U team to a scrimmage.<br /><br />";
art_2011_u15_16uscrimmage += "The only rule that applied that night was to have FUN!&nbsp;&nbsp;Sitting in the stands at ƒcole Secondaire<br />St-Charles Garnier, the parents had to scan the room like surveillance cameras for balls that were flying in all directions!";
art_2011_u15_16uscrimmage += "&nbsp;&nbsp;Even the coaches were allowed to hit the ball and make calls against the referee&nbsp;&nbsp;It was a great evening, and even Coach Mitch called 2 balls out and was correct both times!<br /><br />";

art_2011_u15_humber += "<span class='orng'>H</span>allowe'en and <span class='orng'>H</span>umber College Pre Season 15U & 16U Volleyball Classic; two words that start with &quot;H&quot; which happened October 31st!<br /><br />";
art_2011_u15_humber += "A VERY pleasant tournament to attend because of the beautiful facilities and great planning!<br /><br />";
art_2011_u15_humber += "The girls realized that competition is intensifying as they get older!  Playing consistently will definitely be the key to a successful season.<br /><br />";
art_2011_u15_humber += "I would like to mention a few players per position, who in my opinion, made a significant difference in the outcome of the games.<br />";
art_2011_u15_humber += "Setter:  Madison W's balls were definitely right on the money.  She surprised a few people with good spikes!<br />";
art_2011_u15_humber += "Power:  Taylor's serve and spikes were very precise and powerful!<br />";
art_2011_u15_humber += "Middle:  Erin blocked and bumped the ball consistently all day!<br /><br />";

art_2011_u15_u15provcup += "As I arrived in the parking lot of the Keswick High School, a Santa Claus parade float was being decorated.";
art_2011_u15_u15provcup += "  It reminded me suddenly that Christmas is fast approaching.";
art_2011_u15_u15provcup += "  Personally, I perceive this season as a time for cheer, merriment, joyfulness but especially of thankfulness and appreciation.<br /><br />";
art_2011_u15_u15provcup += "I am taking the liberty of mentioning my outlook on the season because I had the privilege to witness acts of kindness and honesty while being a spectator at my daughter's volleyball tournament.";
art_2011_u15_u15provcup += "  While the girls were playing, one player touched the game ball before it fell to the ground outside the court.";
art_2011_u15_u15provcup += "  Twice, the referee called the point in favour of DRVC.";
art_2011_u15_u15provcup += "  Twice, the player openly admitted to the ref that she had touched the ball and that the point should go to the other team.<br /><br />";
art_2011_u15_u15provcup += "Keep working on your game and your values!  It is wonderful to watch you all play!<br /><br />";
art_2011_u15_u15provcup += "The team was also very consistent!  If you take a look at the score facts below, you will notice that the team won the 1st sets (except for one game) and lost the second set to every game!  I must admit that the games always started flawlessly!<br /><br />";
art_2011_u15_u15provcup += "This tournament demanded a high level of energy from the girls.  They played 3 games in a row which meant they had 2 minutes to gobble down a bit of food in between their games. . .";
art_2011_u15_u15provcup += "Erin and Vanessa were sitting out most games because of injuries.  This being said, Myriam played middle when these girls were on the bench.";

art2011_u15_u15mcgregor += "Snow was still falling heavily when we hopped into our vehicle Saturday morning [January 15, 2011].";
art2011_u15_u15mcgregor += "  Pulling out of our driveway, our ALL-season tires brought our vehicle sliding from left to right on our snow covered street.";
art2011_u15_u15mcgregor += "  Being a passenger in the vehicle, I quickly realized that I didn't have too much control over the situation.<br /><br />";
art2011_u15_u15mcgregor += "Several thoughts collided in my mind as I felt a knot of panic in my stomach and tension build up in my shoulders and neck.";
art2011_u15_u15mcgregor += "  I thought we were being ridiculously unsafe, maybe even a little crazy venturing out in this kind of weather.";
art2011_u15_u15mcgregor += "  I was secretly hoping to get a call from the team coach confirming the tournament was cancelled because of the bad weather...";
art2011_u15_u15mcgregor += "I was also hoping that by the time we would reach Hwy. 401, the roads would be clear and dry!";
art2011_u15_u15mcgregor += "  Unfortunately, none of my wishes came true...the roads were treacherous all the way to our destination and no call received from anyone!";
art2011_u15_u15mcgregor += "  Nevertheless, plows and salt trucks were hectically trying to clear all of the accumulated white fluff that had arrived discretely during the night!<br /><br />";
art2011_u15_u15mcgregor += "We arrived at our destination a little (much) later than anticipated.";
art2011_u15_u15mcgregor += "  The tournament was under way as planned and DRVC was playing the next scheduled game.<br /><br />";
art2011_u15_u15mcgregor += "The girls were reminded of an important life lesson after the first game.";
art2011_u15_u15mcgregor += "  They were reminded that volleyball is a TEAM sport.... No one in particular is ever to be blamed for a game lost.";
art2011_u15_u15mcgregor += "No one is to feel responsible for a bad game either.";
art2011_u15_u15mcgregor += "Just like in everyday life situations, we will do well sometimes and we will inevitably make mistakes.";
art2011_u15_u15mcgregor += "When the latter happens, we ought to get up, smile, and try again.";
art2011_u15_u15mcgregor += "When we pick ourselves up instead of kicking ourselves down or each other down, we become better individuals.";
art2011_u15_u15mcgregor += "We can then keep our head held up high and be proud of our achievements.<br /><br />";

art2011_u15_u16challenge += "Playing up a year was a great learning opportunity for our 15U girls team.<br /><br />";
art2011_u15_u16challenge += "It was the opportunity to practice jumping higher for a block, smash above the net and tip according to the net's new height.";
art2011_u15_u16challenge += "  After being blocked a few times, the girls adjusted their height and position in order to return the ball.";
art2011_u15_u16challenge += "  The girls were also able to get some digs and pancakes to save some plays!";
art2011_u15_u16challenge += "  Strength and precision were noticed in many of the serves and smashes.";
art2011_u15_u16challenge += "  The girls were positive and kept smiling throughout the day.";
art2011_u15_u16challenge += "  The defeats were seen as good practice and a chance to become better players.";
art2011_u15_u16challenge += "  Overall, it was a success being part of this 16U tournament.<br /><br />";

art2011_u15_u15challenge += "  DRVC first played against Eclipse, the number one team!  Doesn't the word eclipse imply change?";
art2011_u15_u15challenge += "  Well, there was an eclipse on Saturday!  First set was played with a lot of dignity and effort.";
art2011_u15_u15challenge += "  The girls were proud of this 6 points difference!<br /><br />";
art2011_u15_u15challenge += "  When the second set was played, DRVC started with a 2 point lead which became larger as the game wore on!<br /><br />";

art2011_u15_u15challenge += "As soon as game one was over, we faced Chatham, our second opponent!  Brianne was awesome with her sets!";
art2011_u15_u15challenge += "Vanessa and Erin were on fire with their smashes!  First set, there was a continuous lead of 1-2 points.";
art2011_u15_u15challenge += "  Second set was even better to watch!  The ladies were fierce and passionate in their game!";
art2011_u15_u15challenge += "  They threw themselves on the ground for reception whenever needed and ran over the parents to reach for an out of bound ball!<br /><br />";

art2011_u15_u15challenge += "The round robin being over, the team got a 2 game break to eat!  At this point, I knew we wouldnÕt be home as early as we had predicted... ";

art2011_u15_u15challenge += "<span class='orng'>DRVC vs. Ms Pakmen: 25-17, 25-21</span><br />";
art2011_u15_u15challenge += "Against Ms Pakmen, the first set was a close game.  At the beginning, I thought to myself...oops, the girls cooled down for too long...";
art2011_u15_u15challenge += "but, after a few serves missed, the energy crept in and we eventually kept the lead.";
art2011_u15_u15challenge += "Jessie had dynamite attack for this one!  The ball was constantly sent very close to the outside line for this game!";

art2011_u15_u15challenge += "<u>Semi-finals</u><br /><br />";
art2011_u15_u15challenge += "<span class='orng'>DRVC vs. Etobicoke Ttans Black: 14-25, 26-24, 10-15</span><br/>";
art2011_u15_u15challenge += "The first set against Titans started slowly for DRVC.  Titans had a few great serves that weren't returned properly which gave them the initial lead.";
art2011_u15_u15challenge += "  This being said, Taylor's powerful serves reduced the score difference and matched the score at 9-9....then 12-12....";
art2011_u15_u15challenge += "  The team messed up a few serves and lost the lead for the first set which eventually became a loss.";
art2011_u15_u15challenge += "  The anticipation of the plays was not quite as sharp as earlier in the day.<br /><br />";
art2011_u15_u15challenge += "In the second set, the energy was back!  A very strange and stressful second set... losing and gaining the lead all through the game.";
art2011_u15_u15challenge += "  A bit of confusion was noticed from both parties.  This set was barely won...";
art2011_u15_u15challenge += "Third set was really played against two players.  Number 6 and number 5 from the opposite team were explosive with ball returns!";
art2011_u15_u15challenge += "Unfortunately this set was a loss.";

art2011_u15_u15challenge += "<u>For the Bronze...</u><br /><br />";
art2011_u15_u15challenge += "<span class='orng'>DRVC vs. South County Teal Bandits: 17-25, 25-20, 16-18</span><br />";
art2011_u15_u15challenge += "For the first set, the ladies were a little less consistent.  A few mistakes gave the opponent team the lead.";
art2011_u15_u15challenge += "  This being said, the scale could have tipped in either direction for the victory.<br /><br />";
art2011_u15_u15challenge += "Second set, was also a very close game!  Myriam was ever-present and didn't miss a beat!   Blocks, serves and spikes for every play!<br /><br />";
art2011_u15_u15challenge += "  Stress and excitement were amongst the teams and crowd.  This last set was to determine the official ranking....4th or 3rd place in Ontario!";
art2011_u15_u15challenge += "  I was becoming more nervous as the set wore on and had to stand between plays to get the pins and needles away from my legs!";
art2011_u15_u15challenge += "  Unfortunately, the 3rd set was lost and the team placed fourth overall.";
art2011_u15_u15challenge += "  Perhaps a little irony again, the Bandits left with the medals!<br /><br />"
art2011_u15_u15challenge += "We did go home without medals; nevertheless, this whole tournament was a great triumph!   Moving up!";

art2011_u15_u15challenge += "The clocks showed pass nine thirty when the car rolled in the driveway.";
art2011_u15_u15challenge += "I still wasn't sure how I was to clean the house and make the sushi for noon the next day....So I did the same as 24 hours prior...";

art2011_u15_u15bugarski += "  Unfortunately, the team lost their drive and started to play in a defensive fashion rather than an offensive fashion thereafter.";

art2011_u15_u15bugarski += "A slow start with poor reception gave the lead to Halton for the first set.  The ball wasn't cooperating and was sent everywhere but over the net!";
art2011_u15_u15bugarski += "  This being said, the girls played with smiles on their faces!  Again, the girls faced many quick sets from the opposite team.<br /><br />";
art2011_u15_u15bugarski += "We're back!  It was Halton's turn to experience some technical difficulties...We started with the lead and it grew in a soaring fashion!";
