art_15ub_15umcgregorcup += "DRVC tried something new this year and that was to add a boy's team to their roster . The plan was to have a 14U team and 15U team to start this new adventure this year but unfortunately we were not able to fill both teams this year, maybe next year. The 15U team this year consists of both 14U and 15U players.

";
art_15ub_15umcgregorcup += "Volleyball is one of the most difficult sports to master as it is a team sport 100%, where all six players need to be a part of the final play. It takes hard work and dedication to become a good team player. The challenge that volleyball faces is that unlike soccer, baseball, hockey, kids are not usually exposed to volleyball at a very early age. Since these other sports are more readily available, it is tough to get more boys out to volleyball. Compare hockey, where in one centre alone in house league there could be 10 boys teams in the 15U age group alone; multiply that by the many centers across Ontario. On top of that, there are also the Rep/travel teams. There could be at least a thousand teams that play recreational/rep hockey. In volleyball, it is not unusual to have as few as (or fewer than) 20 teams in 15U across all of Ontario. Our challenge is to promote this game for the boys, and get more of them out to enjoy this game.

";
art_15ub_15umcgregorcup += "Most players on the DRVC team this year are new to volleyball. Out of the eleven players, only four have played volleyball in the past at the representative level. Seven of the boys are new to this sport, with very little volleyball experience… Therefore it is safe to say, if a player shows they have athletic ability and/or the drive they can be trained/coached to play volleyball. Our team thus far this season has proved this. The boys have demonstrated they are good competitors. Our first three tournaments, every team we met, we have taken at least one game from them or the match, not one team we have competed against this year has taken away all games from us, we have proved we are great contenders…This is huge success for a team first time out with new players! Most other OVA teams we have competed against have been together a few years, or their players have been a part of the OVA system. DRVC has opened the doors for new participants to try volleyball and to become successful at it. This is why as a coach, being able to see the athletic ability a player has and knows they can bring it to a volleyball court and take it to the next level. Our 15U team have greatly improved their skills, team fundamentals, discipline, and work ethic this season thus far. If they can come this far in only a few months of playing can only imagine what the next few months, year will bring for them.

";
art_15ub_15umcgregorcup += "As coach my job is to pass to these players the passion I have for this game, through team fundamentals, skill development, and discipline and give them as much positive reinforcement to make them better stronger athletes in the game of volleyball.

";

art_15ub_15ubugarskicup += "DRVC 15U boys started off the 2009-2010 season with some games of strength and some games of frustration, but on Feb. 27th at the Burgaski Cup they proved they have what it takes and came up with Gold!!! Way to go DRVC boys, you have proved through all your hard work you can do it. With this being the first year for a team, they have demonstrated they have what it takes. During the course of the season they have been encouraged, pulled, complimented, chewed out, and pushed to become the best player they are capable of becoming… This season has been a true learning experience for the boys.

";
art_15ub_15ubugarskicup += "The first match the boys fell to the Ottawa Mavericks 21-25, 21-19[sic] but fought back after a two plus hour drive and won the 3rd game a convincing 25-16.

";
art_15ub_15ubugarskicup += "Going into the 2nd match against the Titans the boys won 25-22, 26-24 and lost the 3rd game 25-16. The boys showed some tremendous saves and plays, and their confidence started here.

";
art_15ub_15ubugarskicup += "The quarter finals we were matched up against Kingston Pegasus. Best 2 of 3. We won 25-20, 20-25 and then winning the final grit game 15-11.

";
art_15ub_15ubugarskicup += "The semi finals were a true game of positive team spirit and awesome team play. We were up against Durham Attack Red, and came out on top 25-22, 25-22. The focus of the boys on the court and the spirit of the boys on the bench truly made this a game to remember.

";
art_15ub_15ubugarskicup += "The gold medal match we were up against the Mavericks again…losing to them earlier in the day had its downfall since the boys lost to them earlier, but after the first few points they knew, and excelled with more confidence, just simply played the game smart and strong and came out on top 25-23, 25-22. It was a nail biting game where we proved we have it all and we got the GOLD!

";
art_15ub_15ubugarskicup += "As Michael Jordan once said, "Some people want it to happen, some wish it would happen, and others make it happen." The boys made it happen...because they wanted it!

";
