15U Inferno Celebrates Provincial Cup Success

Durham Rebels Inferno competed in the 15U Provincial Cup at Uxbridge Secondary School on November 3. Not only was this the first OVA tournament of the season for the team, it marked the first-ever OVA tournament for several Inferno players who are new to the competitive volleyball scene. Coaches Cris and Lisa have brought this team a long way in such a short time and the results were evident. Inferno went undefeated in morning pool play and crossovers and it wasn’t until their semi final match against Storm Cyclones that Inferno experienced some push back that sent them to the bronze medal competition. Inferno wouldn’t take the bronze medal match against Markham Revolution too easily either, but perseverance and a never-give-up attitude meant they would prevail in three back and forth sets to win the bronze. Congratulations girls and coaches and good luck at the 16U Provincial Cup on November 24.

OVA Offer Period Opens at 10 p.m. this Evening

Dear Parent:

Thank you for registering your son or daughter for our 2018/2019 volleyball tryouts. As of 10 p.m. this evening, our coaches may begin sending offers by e-mail. As previously communicated, work and family schedules may prevent some coaches from starting the offer process right at 10 p.m.

We know this year’s tryout process has been somewhat stressful for many young athletes and thank you for your patience as we do our best to adhere to the OVA’s tryout guidelines while working as quickly as possible to roster teams and communicate information to those awaiting tryout results.

Athletes receiving offers will have up to 24 hours from the time stamp on their email to respond to an offer. We kindly request that athletes respond to their offer once a decision is made so other young athletes are not made to wait unnecessarily. Once a team is fully rostered, we will notify all tryout participants (this may take up to 48 hours — or more — depending on athlete offer response time). Not all athletes will receive an offer.

In testing our offer system, we would like to point out a few important details:

  • Some smartphones show a blank OVA offer form attached to the email. If your child’s offer form is blank, please try opening your email on another device or a computer
  • If responding for more than one athlete in your family, please close your browser completely after submitting each response.
  • If you have difficulty completing and submitting your response, simply reply to the email clearly indicating your decision

As offer responses are received, there may be opportunity for upward movement in some girls’ divisions where there are multiple teams. If your daughter initially accepted an offer for a tier 2 or tier 3 team, you will be contacted if a position on the first or second team opens up and she is being considered for a spot on that team.

Thank you for considering Durham Rebels Volleyball Club for your child. We hope all athletes find a place to play volleyball this year and wish everyone a great season ahead!
