They started off their tournament day taking the province’s second seed team, LVC of London, to three sets and coming out on top. What a way to start in this 17U Premier Division that brings together the top 9 seeds in the province. While that win would be the highlight of the day, DRVC continued to push competitors forcing all but one game to three sets; proving they belonged in this elite group of teams. As the lights dimmed at Brock University in St. Catherine’s, DRVC emerged with a 7th place finish, not enough to put them into February’s 2-day Grand Prix event open to the top 8 teams in the province. While some may have left slightly disappointed, it also served as a catalyst for this group of determined athletes to keep pushing, keep training, and keep working harder to get closer to that goal of once again playing amongst Ontario’s elite.
