15U Rebels Starting Strong

The DRVC 15U Girls team is off to a fantastic start! With the addition of a few new players, a couple of pre-season tournaments, and an OVA 16U tournament under their belt, coach Koot was extremely happy when the girls brought home their first gold medal of the season in the Provincial Cup in Port Hope on December 3.

The team started the day playing Markham Revolution Fusion 14U to which they lead from start to finish winning both sets with ease. Next they were up against Kingston VC which was a very intense point-for-point game but the Rebels came on strong to win the match. The DRVC Rebels were first in their pool and continued play in the crossover against another Kingston team, Pegasus 14U. The girls played well easily winning both sets. Next came the Scarborough Titans Eclipse which they won the first set on an ace of a serve and pushed on to take the match. Off to the finals with a medal in sight stood before them the Durham Attack 14U Red team. Although the opponent was ready for them, the Rebels they were picking corners and adding up the points to win the first set 25-15. One more game to go and the smell of victory was near. The girls rallied together fighting for each point but the opponent was not going down easily as it was point-for-point tied at 17-17. The Rebels knew what they had to do and did it as they fought hard slowly pulling ahead to win on a beautiful tip, 25-22 to bring home the Gold. Well done Rebels!
